Daimonzaka Road is a former approach to Nachi Taisha Shrine from Furigasebashi Bridge to a ruin of Daimonzaka gate at the base of Mt. Nachi. The road is said to be a border between the secular world and the sacred land.
There used to be a daimon or a large gate at end of the 650-meter long cobblestone paved road, which sloped up. Therefore, it is called Daimonzaka Road. The Daimon gate was moved to the Seigantoji Temple, and became a main gate to Seigantoji Temple.
