Mt. Myohozan Amidaji Temple
In 703, about 1300 years ago from today, monk Renjaku Shonin in China came to Kumano for training in Mt. Myohozan. He made a handwritten copy of sutra Myohorengekyo and buried it at the top of mountain. Therefore itfs called Mt. Myohozan.
In the year of 815, monk Kobo Daishi had a temple built in the mountain and made Amida Nyorai a principal icon of the temple. Therefore, itfs named Amidaji Temple.
