Nanakoshinomine
At an elevation of 262 m, this route is between the mountain range that is home to the ascetic practices known as Shugendo stretching to the north, and the Motomiya hamlet below as one looks down. It is also a hiking trail that features azaleas in the spring and autumn colors in the fall. On the mountain top there is a hut where Ennogyoja is said to have spent a thousand days in ascetic practices, and where the priest Saigyohoshi wrote the lines, "Clouds disappear and glitter again and again near the rising moon at Nanakoshinomine" (from "Sankashu") on his pilgrimage to Kumano.
