The Wakayama Prefecture World Heritage Center is an institution that serves to introduce and transmit information about the world heritage site "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range". Located in the Tanabe City Hongu Administration Office near Kumano Hongu Taisha, it is equipped with an exhibition space and an area for cultural exchanges. The exhibition space is made of Kishu timber and is based on the image of sunlight shining through cedar groves in the Kii Mountains. It represents a view of the natural landscape of "Koya and Kumano". The cultural exchange area is an intellectual-exchange space that introduces the culture that the Kii Mountain Range has produced, and acts as a rich repository of information. It also serves as a venue for a wide variety of events.
