Otonashi tea is characterized by its leaves, which retain their original diagonal shape, since they are not shredded during the final stage of production after being picked as first-grade tea. This is so that the leaves have their original shape when poured into the teapot.
This tea is the specialty of a mountainous region where there is a climate of high temperatures and heavy rain, and much lower temperatures at night and in the early morning. The aromatic first-grade tea is picked in May.
