The Mizuno family graveyard

This graveyard, which still exists in its original form, contains the graves of successive generations of the Mizuno family who were the rulers of the Shingu domain as chief retainers of the Kishu Tokugawas. Successive tombstones were erected here from the time that some of the ashes of the first domain lord, Mizuno Shigenaka, were entombed here, up until 1928. Sixteen tombstones of the feudal lords and their wives line the path, and a pagoda erected in honor of the souls of successive generations of the Mizuno family stands at the main entrance.
