A chlorite schist stone monument stands at the site where there once was an elementary branch school. It was recorded in late-Heian era documents as "Uchimizunomi-oji", and was known as Uchinomimizu. There is a place in Nakahechicho-takahara that has been known as Mizunomi since ancient times, and which provided lodgings for pilgrims. It is thought that, being closer to Hongu, this area was called Uchinomimizu. Apparently the Chinese characters for Mizunomi were changed to the ones used now at the start of the Edo period.
