Content Number:20807

Misaki Shrine
If you turn north from the "Misaki Jinja Mae" road rest area along the coast the road continues towards the great torii gate of the temple.
Continuing north is the second torii gate and "Misaki Shrine".
Originally built long ago in the year 859 (the first year of the Jyogan era).
It is said that sever ubame oak trees were planted at the time of the shrine's construction making several of the trees approximately 1100 years old.
The huge roots of the trees give testament to their great age and are a site to behold.
They are spirits of traffic safety, good fortune and warding off evil spirits.
