Senri-no-hama is a 1.3km curved sand beach and is the leading sea turtle nesting ground on the island of Honshu.
The vast majority of sea turtles which visit Japan are loggerhead sea turtles and the Senri-no-hama nesting ground is also a loggerhead nesting ground.
The sea turtle egg laying seasons is from mid-May until the beginning of August, and those wishing to view the nesting require permission.
