The southern slope of Mt.Gomadanzan is covered in primeval beech and quillwort forests.
Heading south from Gomasan Sky Tower is Gomadanzan Forest Park "Wild Life" which is Japan's no. 1 rhododendron area with over 60,000 in full bloom.
Much cooler than lower lying areas, even in the summer, it's a great spot to take your family on days off.
It is also a good spot for birdwatching and other outdoor activities.
