The Kumano Kodo splits into the "Nakahechi" which passes through the mountains in Tanabe and the "Ohechi" which borders the ocean.
Elegant stone steps remain next to the Sodo-ji Temple , which is by the side of "Ohechi".
From this point a gently sloping path continues for approximately 1.5km.
The section from Nanamagari-no-saka to the Shuku Falls branch is the highest in altitude and is a high mountain pass but the ocean and other scenery seen from the mountains will make any visitor forget their weariness.
This world heritage road can show visitors the true romanticism shared by people in ancient times.
